  Nice job!

  I would include the entire 1 Cor 5:11 scripture immediatelly after their botched up wt quote (as a basis for the shunning) where the full text does not have any [or guilty of another gross sin] verbiage and is quite explicit as to who are we not to have contact with: ..."quit mixing in company with anyone called a brother that is a fornicator or a greedy person or an idolater or a reviler or a drunkard or an extortioner, not even eating with such a man".

  Put an emphasis on how they twist the scripture to support their cause.

  What would happen to a JW if they were prescribed medical marijuana?

  i was just looking at the news and this just popped into my head.

  what if you had terminal cancer and were prescribed this by your physician?

  you already have a terminal disease so the thing about destroying your "body as a temple" thing is a mute point.

  What Do JWs Think About Dinosaurs?

  i've seen evangelical sites that show dinosaurs dying in the great flood.

  these people believe that god created the earth in seven 24-hour days, and have wondered that if god could just "speak" the earth into existence, why he would need the other six days.

  (couldn't he just will it into existence in a flash?).

  I'd say that it sound really intriguing and then ask for the newsreporter's name and when and where the story was published so you can learn more....Watch them give you the deer-in-headlights look...

  Just another urban legend/fairy tale JWs pass around as gospel.

  You are tangling yourself in legalities and missing the big picture.

  This would have been a non-issue, had the lady exercised some common sense and followed the direction of those who otherwise practically own her life.

  If celebrating a certain religious holiday is essentially a death sentence to you, you don't get a job where and when said holiday is in its full swing as someone handling the idols representing this grave sin.

  Where is the personal responsibility?

  This is turning into nothing more but another marquis case of persecution trumpeted by Brooklyn.

  One does not need to be dressed in costume in order to wrap gifts. Wrapping gifts is what her employer hired her to do. She was willing to perform her job duties.

  Was she physically capable of wrapping gifts in her underwear?

  If you had a job that requires certain attire, say a garbage collector, and you showed up for work in white linen pants, can you do your job? Sure. Would any sensible person do it - not in a million years.

  It comes down to the common sense exercised when applying for the position. I still think Moshe nailed it when he commented that it was her fear of what OTHERS will think if they saw her.

  By the letter of the law she probably has the upper hand, and I am not going to argue that.

  It is frustrating, however, to see resources and brainpower totally wasted for something that was so preventable, if the plaintiff just obeyed the same set of laws that landed her in the hot seat to begin with.
